And leave differently!
Welcome to Louisiana...
Some Louisiana Lagniappe...
- Louisiana has the third largest number of Hollywood movie projects, behind Hollywood and New York. The reason? A state bill over 7 years ago that provided great tax credits for the movie industry! Geez, not to hard to see the point... also did you know that during a recession Movie tickets go through the roof. http://www.lafilm.org/media/index.cfm?id=1006
- North Louisiana is sitting on top of the largest natural gas field ever discovered in North America! It's called the Haynesville Shale. http://geology.com/articles/haynesville-shale.shtml
And because of the sensible energy policies of the state, we are harvesting it! What does this mean? Well combined with the third largest movie industry in the country , a booming economy in the North portion of the state! We have small farmers and landowners who owned a few thousand acres, receiving $15,000 - $27,000 per acre becoming instant millionaires, there are thousands of them too! Even those of us who live in the neighborhoods and suburbs (which bore Obama, his words not mine) got paid! We have a decent sized, approx half acre, lot in a neighborhood in Bossier City, Louisiana which is in the NW portion near Arkansas. To drill in our 'section' all landowners had to be paid royalties and signing bonuses. Just last week we received a check for over $8000.00 just for our signing bonus, and expect about $300.00 per month in Royalties.
- Louisiana governmental integrity leads the nation! http://projects.publicintegrity.org/oi/report.aspx?aid=939 Immediately after Governor Jindal took office, he pushed through the legislature the most stringent government transparency laws on the books in any state in the nation.
"The new law, which takes effect in January 2009, will provide more information to the public about the personal financial interests of state legislators and public officials. The law earned 99 out of a possible 100 points on a survey used by the Center to rank public disclosure requirements for state legislators and puts Louisiana's law on par with the nation's best financial disclosure laws."
"Two years ago, in the same survey, Louisiana's financial disclosure law earned 43 out of 100 points, ranking it in the bottom fifth of all states for ethics standards."
- All of this and the best food and friendliest people in the nation!
So like I said! Come as you are, leave different!
